How is wind chill calculated?

The NWS formula is: 35.74 + 0.6215T - 35.75(V^0.16) + 0.4275T(V^0.16) where T is temperature (°F) and V is wind speed (mph). Our calculator uses this official formula.

When should I worry about frostbite?

Frostbite can occur in 30 minutes when wind chill is below -18°F, in 10 minutes below -32°F, and in 5 minutes below -48°F. Cover all exposed skin in these conditions.
